State Law Prevails On Gay Marriage

State Law Prevails On Gay Marriage
Cape Cod Times article written in late May 2004 regarding cities and towns in Massachusetts adhereing to the State's 1913 law interpretation, which limits marriage licenses to same sex couples who either resident in Massachusetts, or intend to reside in the state after marriage. Provincetown, along with 12 other municipalities, vowed to challenge this interpretation in court, but agreed to abide by the state's interpretation until the court could rule on the matter, one way or the other.
