Historic District Survey information for 7 Central St
Architectural Description: 7 Central Street is a 2-story, multi-bay building. The cross gable roof is clad in asphalt shingles; two interior brick chimneys. The building consists of two front-facing gable sections at the ends with a recessed side gable section between. The center side gable portion is set back. There is an enclosed front porch with a roof deck above along part of the side gable portion. The roof top deck has square wood balustrade The primary entrance is located in the center of the enclosed porch, and consists of a modern pane and panel door, wood steps and handrail. Fenestration includes 1/1 vinyl DHS with inoperable shutters; modern sliding vinyl windows in the enclosed porch. A gate located between the enclosed porch and the northern front gable section that leads to a courtyard. Second-story balconies overlook the courtyard.
Historical Narrative: Known as "The Carriage House" (2004). Originally, this building was likely a 2-bay sidehall cottage with a 3-bay side ell. Subsequent additions and alterations, particularly in the last quarter of the twentieth century, have radically altered the building.
