Architectural Description: 5 Winthrop Street is a 1-1/2-story, 3-bay, sidehall dwelling with 3-bay side ell; fenestration includes 6/6 wood DHS with inoperable shutters throughout, windows on 2nd floor of front facade have flat roof with paired brackets; recessed entrance on southwest end of front facade is accessed by a wood panel door and modern storm door; door surround includes pilasters and heavy entablature supported by paired brackets; entry reached by brick steps; full cornice returns with paired brackets; corner pilasters; skylights. Side ell has interior concrete block chimney; entrance on left with multi-pane wood door, pilasters and flat hood with brackets and concrete steps; gable dormer with metal casement; frieze board with brackets; south of building connected by 1-story flat roof hyphen to 2-story, 1-car garage; flat-roof hyphen has a roof-top deck. Garage has cross gable with full return; corner pilasters; modern overhead garage door; and 3 single-pane metal casement windows.
