Historic District Survey information for 16 Winthrop St
Architectural Description: 16 Winthrop Street is a 1-1/2-story, 3-bay, former sidehall cottage. Main front-gable roof has partial cornice returns, gable dormers on each slope, stuccoed corbelled brick chimney. Main historic dwelling entrance is panel door with sidelights, pilasters, and entablature. Windows are replacement single-light casements. 2-story rear ell with exterior steps, decks and entries at each level. A 2-story octagonal addition on the southwestern corner of the building provides the main entrance to the Inn. A hipped-roof hood with pendanted end brackets shades the full glass double door entry, which is reached by wood steps. An exterior end brick chimney is located on the southern facade. Windows are paired single-light casements.
