Architectural Description: 531 Commercial St. is a 2-1/2-story, 4-bay dwelling; roof is side gable crossed with a low pitched gambrel and a hipped tower on one side; roof is sheathed in asphalt shingles and has partial cornice returns; interior brick chimney; exterior is clad in wood shingles with bands of staggered wood shingles; building sits on a brick foundation; fenestration includes 2/2 vinyl and wood DHS windows; inoperable shutters; primary entrance is accessed by a modern wood pane-and-panel door sheltered by a flat Italianate hood supported by embellished brackets; 1st- and 2nd-story porches on south side; tower has exposed rafter ends; exterior staircase on south side for entrance to upper stories.
